close. we actually preferred the hrv in looks and drive, but needed a little more room across the back seats and in the trunk

I can’t quite afford another car just yet, but of course my next car will definitely be a 4c Toyota. Most likely a Vibe GT/Matrix XRS, but possibly a release series XA (the RS was the only way to get a sunroof), or a 5-speed Camry (beige but with a manual transmission hehehe). The Echo is out because no sunroof. The only non-Toyota I’m seriously considering is the 98+ Accord (4-cylinder, 4-door, manual EX model)

I had a V6 accord of that error, it was a truly excellent car. I'd have been willing to get the 4cyl to have a manual though

nice - one of our friends just got a fairly loaded CRV in that metalic light blue color.

nope, not doing a transverse V6 ever again. They did offer the manual in the 06-07 V6 Accord sedan, and in the coupe all years from 03-on
But with the trouble I’m having with my Maxima, no fucking way do I want another transverse V6. I had to take off a bunch of shit and the intake to get to the back in order to replace the valve cover gaskets, and now it seems I forgot to connect one of the hoses and it dies immediately upon startup. Shit, I should’ve just done the front one and let the back gasket drip. An oil leak is much less severe than idle problems!
I *might* consider a longitudinal V6 like on the first-gen TL and RL. But I’d still rather have an I4 for better fuel economy and low running cost.

No way! I just did the valve cover gaskets on my V6 Mazda, and it was an enormous pain in the ass. I didn’t understand the transverse V hate until I had to actually work on it.

Yup! What a shitty design. If I can’t fix it by tomorrow, I’ll limp it over to a nearby shop.

very acceptable for her needs. little slow to get started off the line, but certainly more than enough to merge on the highway, and plays nicely in boring cummuter driving

I have a 98 4cyl. Get a stick with it. The auto is fine at cruising speed but it’s lethargic from a stop. I love the car though. It’s been in our family for 16 years and apart from consumables, it’s cost me mayyyybe $1000 dollars.

Also, it's reasonably fun to drive and I think it looks fantastic with the running lights on and with a spoiler.

Did they fix the road noise issue? With my now fiances old 2014 CR-V(long story.... She has a 09 RX350 now) when she was driving at interstate speeds I couldn’t hear her on Bluetooth over the sheer rumbling of the pavement.

Not to be “that guy”, but any reason you didn’t go CX-5 or pre-owned XC60/Q5? I’m curious because my grandma has been musing about replacing her Civic with a CPO CR-V for a higher load lip and thus easier loading. I personally think she should go with a CPO luxury CUV as it may end up being her last car, but I want to know what you think of the CR-V before I push her in any direction ;)

we looked at and test drove the cx5, tucson, sante fe, murano, and rav4. narrowed it to the cx5 and tucson. we actually parked all three side by side and trunk space and rear seat room in the csv was just better. price and features across the three were almost identical otherwise
